14th February 2006

“14th February, a time when hearts binds, I wish for a valentine... Would you be mine? Coz it's more than a heart you'll find” was one of the poetic love messages floating on cyberspace as students and some staff of SEGi College Subang Jaya joined in the fun of the Love Wheel by www.friendx.com

Organised by SEGi College in collaboration with its partner, BidDirect, students entered a chance for the most romantic and original love message for a chance to win fabulous prizes. The Most Romantic Love Message entries stood for a chance to win third prize of a weather station clock set, second prize of a set of pendulous stationery and the grand prize of a matching set of his and hers watches.

According to Lee Kok Cheng, Principal of SEGi College Subang Jaya, the College keeps an open mind about love, young love or platonic.

“Having feelings or emotions comes naturally to all mankind. For Valentine's Day, it's celebrating love which is an emotion we all feel and there's nothing wrong or shameful about it should we be sincere about love,” observed Lee who was also the judge of Most Romantic Love Message.

As expected, students gathered around giggling and smiling as they joined in the fun of spinning the Love Wheel, sending SMS love message through friendx, bought roses, candy and chocolates. Shrieks of surprise and laughter were heard throughout the College as the young ladies and gentlemen were presented with tokens of love, blatantly declared and shy reactions received.

Students and staff who spun the Love Wheel had the opportunity to walk away with hair colour by L'oreal, shampoo by Prefers, skin care by Olay and leather wrist bands. Joining in the fun was chemical engineering lecturer, Lai Ying Ling.

Lai who was spinning the Love Wheel declared that she simply wanted to see what prize she would get from the wheel. “Sending out love messages through SMS is a nice way for the shy ones to anonymously declare their love. Technology certainly has its advantages for those faint at heart,” observed Lai.
