The College was abuzz with the hustle and bustle of excited graduates and their families during the University of Sunderland (UOS) graduation recently. Held at the Multi Purpose Hall of SEGi College, Malaysia in Kota Damansara, the graduation bore witness to the conferring of more than 200 graduands their awards of academic excellence.

Leading the platform party during the ceremony was Deputy Vice Chancellor of UOS, Jim Bradshaw. In his speech, Bradshaw congratulated the dedicated graduates for their commitment and perseverance in pursuing their studies.

“Congratulations, graduates for your outstanding performances. I hope you have enjoyed your time studying at SEGi College on a University of Sunderland programme, and that your studies have inspired you to build upon your knowledge throughout life. I hope you will keep in touch, both with University and a wider circle of friends through the Alumni Association,” said Bradshaw.

Emotions were high when Bradshaw later asked the graduates to don their mortarboards as he officially conferred them their awards. Graduates were then asked to turn and face their families and applaud them for the support and encouragement they have given.

Bradshaw added, “The SEGi College and University’s academic staff who have nurtured and developed students’ talents and skills, and the support staff who have assisted students during their time here also deserves great credit and thanks.”

Leading the pack, graduating with first class honours in the Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is Manjeevan Singh Seera a/l Harpajan Singh. Manjeevan was clearly pleased with his achievement when he stepped on stage with a smile as he received his award from Professor Jim Bradshaw.

When asked, Manjeevan said, “I do constant revisions, almost every evening after work. I do not wait until the last minute to open my books before the exams. I found that constant revision and working on the past-year examination questions helped me retain the information I have studied.

Clearly proud and supportive of his achievement were Manjeevan’s parents and sister who were there during the awards ceremony. They, along with other families who have made their journeys, travelled all the way from Penang to witness Manjeevan go on stage to receive his recognition.
