18 September 2007 - Inspired by her passion and drive for youth and sports development, SEGi College main campus has named its Sports and Recreation Complex after Datuk Seri Azalina Datuk Othman Said, Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia. The Minister herself was specially invited to reveal the new name of the building in a launch ceremony today.
“The naming of the sports complex after Datuk Seri Azalina is the least we can do in acknowledging the minister’s achievement, dedication and commitment in promoting the national sports and youth front. Dedicating this complex to her is an appropriate gesture as her passion for youth and sports development inspires us to take on the challenge of providing sports facilities on campus,” said Lee Kok Cheng, Principal of SEGi College, Malaysia and Chief Operating Officer of SEG International Bhd.
Lee added, “It has been 3 months since the campus has been fully operational and we are always looking at ways to increase the programme offerings at SEGi as well as to enhance the building and facilities of the campus. We have invested RM150 million worth of hardware and software for this campus to bring state-of-the-art learning facilities for our students.”
“We believe in holistic education, this meaning a complete full-fledged campus equipped with not only learning and research facilities, but sports and recreation complex and on-campus accommodation,” Lee continued.
SEGi College, Malaysia situated in Kota Damansara is a milestone for SEGi in its mission to provide world-class education that is industry driven and internationally recognised. Unlike most full-fledge campuses, SEGi College Malaysia is among the first institute of its kind to boast a sports complex of its immensity within the Klang Valley.
The Datuk Seri Azalina Datuk Othman Said Sports and Recreation Complex, situated south of the main building comprises of squash courts, table tennis, a swimming pool, badminton courts and a basketball court, all of which is located within the 10-acre premise. The complex is open to students to promote a holistic way of life, incorporating studies and recreational activities to strike a balance in maintaining healthy lifestyles among students.

SEGi College also offers the SEGi Sports Scholarship specially to promote an active lifestyle among students. The sports scholarship is awarded to students who excel in both sports and academic.
