15 August 2007 An array of exciting activities and fun games culminated in a burst of joy and celebration as SEGi College Kuala Lumpur welcomed its newest students during its orientation day.

“We are excited with the large number of students who enrolled in our college. Although they are students who registered earlier during March to June 2007 intake, nonetheless it is never too late to welcome their arrival with a big celebration,” said Lawrence Ngu, Deputy Principal of SEGi College Kuala Lumpur.

During the Orientation Day, students were welcomed by briefed by the top management of SCKL. They were then advised on some of challenges that they will face while studying in SCKL. Students were also featured to a motivational talk on tips to manage their studies and strike a balance between student life and creating a healthy lifestyle.

The Orientation Day also arranged a display exciting activities and showcase of talents by performers such as magic show, dance performances, sketches and games.

The event which started at 10.00 am ended at about 4.00 pm with buzzes of enthusiasm. Beams of excitement and exhilaration radiated from the students’ faces by the end of the event although it was obvious that students were weary.

“I know that it has been a long day for all but it is obvious that the students are excited to set off their journey to pursue their dreams. I am confident that SEGi College will be able to fulfil their goals. We have very passionate, experienced and dedicated lecturers to lend a helping hand to teach and guide each student in their classes,” said Ngu confidently.

When asked about the benefit of having the Orientation Day, Ngu commented, “The orientation programme is aimed at providing students with a deeper understanding of the courses and route they have chosen. Also, students get a chance to mingle around and get acquainted with the other students and staff, and hopefully, make new friends.”

Rishikumar, a popular lecturer amongst the students who spearheaded the celebration said, “The Orientation Day is part of an assignment for the Second Semester Diploma in Marketing students. I am very proud of their efforts and achievement in making this event a success, considering the limited time that we had and also the number of students we are dealing with.”

“Not all the credit for the success of the event is attributable solely to the students. The staff pitched in a well, to give advice and assistance to ensure that the event is a success,” Rishikumar added.

“Orientation days are not new to SCKL, but this year’s is by and large the biggest in terms of student participation and activities. If we can organise such a blast like this every year, then there is only one way to go for

SCKL, which is forward,” enthused Norulashikin Ismail, Head of Diploma Studies. Norulashikin was on hand to assist on the day’s event.

When asked about the future events of SCKL, Ngu said, “Now, we are in preparation for our Prom Night, which will be organized somewhere in November. I am sure that the event will be another memorable night of celebration filled with glitzy glam.”
