It was a night to remember for students and staff of SEGi College Kuala Lumpur as the prom night themed Casino Royale had staff and students looking hot and sexy in their best impressions of British super spy James Bond and his noted sex siren female partners.

Held at the Parkroyal Hotel Kuala Lumpur, the event saw hundreds of students and staff attending the prom night dressed to kill.

“I am proud and pleased to be here tonight, to be part of the most prestigious event of the calendar year for SCKL.  I would like to congratulate the student council for successfully organizing this beautiful event,” cheered the Principal of SEGi College Kuala Lumpur, Hew Moi Lan.

The prom night was not merely a night to dress up, feast and be merry, it is an event to foster closer relationship among students at a relaxed atmosphere.

Fabulous was the performances of the night. Casino Royale started with performances from 2 different dance groups. The first to perform were Emblem Movers Group, comprising of 7 members and has been together for quite some time now. They performed the ‘Modern Dance’ with several different styles and moves lasting 20 minutes. Next up, were a group of 5 proud SEGi students, who called themselves Hot Forze. Theirs were a mixture of hip-hop and Latin dances.

“The dances really got the crowd excited and cheering away! I think their moves are really good,” praised Lee Pei Sia, Chairman of the Prom Night Committee and also Vice-President of the Student Council.

The sizzling dances were quickly cooled with popping of champagne bottles to mark the start of the prom by Hew and Lee, together with other management staff and the president of the student council, Peggy Thang.

The highlight of any prom event was the crowning of Mr. & Ms. SCKL. For the candidates to earn their title, they had to go through the entire process of talent show, catwalk show and questions and answers.

“It was really lovely to see all the girls dress up prettily and the boys nicely groom and looking dashing. From jeans and t-shirts to ball gowns and tuxedos is a transformation for all of them. I could hardly recognised my own students!” commended Hew.

The prom king and queen competition had a surprising twist as Manveer, finalist, amazed the crowd with an alluring belly dance. Manveer held the crowd’s attention with her slick and suave moves.

The catwalk had the audience entertained. Divided into 2 categories, the candidates of Mr. & Ms. SCKL strutted their stuff in casual wear and evening gowns sponsored by Original Fake and France & Taipei.

“The finalists are great! The guys look gorgeous and the girls beautiful. I’ve seen a lot of these events on TV but never thought of experiencing one up front,” said organizing committee member, Arix Foo.

The deciding factor of the Mr. & Ms. SCKL was the Q&A segment. With many witty answers, Rubhan emerged top for he Mr. SCKL category and crowd favourite, and Ann Yeap was unanimously crowned Ms. SCKL.

Casino Royale drew to a close with an open floor dance session with students dancing freely and many snapping photos for memorabilia.

After months of preparation and many sleepless nights, the organizing committee breathed a sigh of relief and satisfaction.

“From the start to the end, our committee was fully involved. Obviously we had our ups and downs, difference in opinion and long hours slaving over this night. But it is all worth it to be part of Casino Royale,” said Lee.
