Chinese New Year celebration with a bang! The thrilling lion dance that captivated and amused students and staff.

21st February 2006

Chinese New Year is a time for being together family and loved ones. For SEGi College Kuala Lumpur (formerly known as Systematic College Kuala Lumpur), there was also time to celebrate the lunar new year with their ‘SEGi family'.

“We like to give a bit back to the community around here. That is why we organize many activities to promote goodwill with our neighbours. It is also a good time for students and staff to get together to enjoy ourselves as part of the SEGi family,” said Hew Moi Lan, Principal of SEGi College Kuala Lumpur.

The day begun with the arrival of the “Choi Sun Yeh”, the Chinese God of Prosperity, who is actually SEGi student Wong Wan Heng, in costume. Wong's antics had everyone in stitches.

The celebration also showcased demonstration by the Tae Kwon Do club who wowed the crowd with flying kicks and the chopping of wood plans with their bare hands.

The highlight of the celebration was the lion dance performance, which was eagerly awaited by everyone. The troupe arrived and delighted the crowd with a rousing performance, which combined acrobatics with grace. The lions toured the campus before going out to the streets to greet the cheering crowd.

After the excitement, students and staff were treated to a new year lunch. The entertainment did not end there as the Road Rangers from MYFM radio station were on hand to entertain the crowd with questions and freebies.
