SEGi College New Flagship Campus Opens Day & Night for Public in July |

The new flagship campus is set to be a defining architecture in Kota Damansara. The college is also taking this opportunity to invite people in the Kota Damansara and surrounding areas to visit the campus as well. “It's our way of being a friendly new neighbour, and give back to society,” said Lee Kok Cheng, Principal of SEGi College, Malaysia's main campus. The all day event on the 7 th of July 2007 promises loads of exciting activities, fun for all the family, a shopping bazaar, sporting action, exhibitions and much more. The highlight of the event is the High School Basketball League finals at the multipurpose hall, performance by SEGi College 's Cheerleading Squad Phoenix, paint ball challenge, Amazing Challenge treasure hunt , and “Futsal Face-off” competition. Visitors can also attend and participate in various talks, seminars and forums organised at the college. There is the “Junior Journalist Programme” (JJP), where speakers from Times Guides, Jobstreet, Doctorjob and even renowned blogger, Kenny Sia will share their tips in journalism and publishing with its audience. Editors from leading dailies will also coordinate two separate workshops in conjunction with the JJP programme to be held on that day. “We also have lined up free dental check up by our upcoming dentistry programme lecturers, clowns, inflatable games, dance performances, blood donation drive, and our Faculty of Education and Social Sciences will be setting up a childcare service to look after your young children while you go about exploring the many attractions we have at the college on that day,” shared Lee. The event will end with a concert and gala performance in the evening with performances from pop and rock celebrities from 8TV. Also in the line-up are performances by SEGi's music students under the baton of recent winner of Malaysian composer with MPO, Yii Kah Hoe. The newly completed RM150 million worth flagship college offers a campus-within-the-city lifestyle which promises unsurpassed facilities and recreational amenities for its students. Designed to provide a complete learning experience, SEGi College Malaysia Main Campus is complete with on-campus hostels to house both local and international students. Additionally, a n Olympic-size swimming pool, an auditorium and a sports complex are also available in the campus. The new campus will house the Faculties of Business and Accountancy, Nursing, Engineering and Technology, Creative Arts and Design to name a few. “We also have in the pipeline programmes of health sciences and build environment. We're looking at having courses of the disciplines of bio-medicine, bio-technology, dentistry, pharmacy, quantity surveying, architecture, construction and project management,” shared Lee. SEGi's 3+0 degree programmes are diploma programmes are recognised and approved by the National Accreditation Board (LAN) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). “At SEGi, we believe in taking our efforts one step further by offering additional services such as the Career Exploratory Programme (CEP). CEP gives students the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and have hands-on experience of the real working world. Our students are able to feel what it is like to work with some of the best companies in the country and the world. What's more they may earn while they learn and gain valuable working experience before they fully enter the job market,” Lee explained. SEGi has also collaborated with Jobstreet.com, a leading recruitment portal, to power the CEP website by matching its students with the right internship jobs in suitable companies. Another added bonus of studying in SEGi is our SEGi Leadership Centre (SLC). The SLC is a training centre in Linggi, Malacca, secluded from the city, designed specifically to develop and nurture leadership traits and survival skills essential to youths, graduates especially, to make it in the real world. The SLC boasts facilities such as a 4-storey high rock climbing tower, twelve (12) element high obstacle course, abseiling tower, flying fox, outdoor-designed accommodation, camping ground, seminar amenities and paintball battlefield. The outdoor experience is further enriched with rafting and canoeing facilities. According to Lee, the practical skill trainings of CEP and SLC will produce first class if not world class graduates, career ready to face the challenges of the real world once they graduate. These are among two of the many additional services we offer to furnish our students with the essential skills before they graduate .
