Introducing SCSJ Student Council Committee 2006 and SEGi Management Team
The management team of SCSJ lead by Principal, Lee Kok Cheng, introduced themselves and their roles in the College. Students got a good look at the faces of the Heads of finance and accounts, regulatory affairs, marketing, business development, deans of faculties, registrar, bursary, IT, customer service and so on. “It's a wonderful event to let the students know who we are, and that they can come to see any of us at any time as they're part of the SEGi family,” said Principal Lee. Lee urged students to join the College's student council, clubs and societies to keep active. “Learning is not only through books and lectures, you have to join in activities to build your character and confidence.” As an ice-breaker, the student council had a ‘lucky draw' to get students to feel comfortable with the management team. Choosing obvious characteristics of a college student or lecturer such as ‘black colour bag', ‘metal rim spectacles', ‘green pen', ‘red t-shirt', had students and staff who fit those descriptions running up the stairs to receive their prizes from the Principal. Fitting the description of ‘man in all black' was deputy dean of the Faculty of Creative Arts and Design, Peter Loo, who incidentally was born on that day. As a SEGi family tradition, staff and students sang Happy Birthday to Peter. Dances were also part of the event. Student council members gave a performance of Malay dance, modern dance as well as an Indian dance by an international student from India . A surprise visit by CEO Dato' Clement Hii added much excitement to the event and the students took the opportunity in getting to know him.
