SEGi Cast As RTM's Education And Training Provider

SEG International Group (SEGi) and Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) entered into a value corporate partnership today. The partnership is to provide training and education for the employees of RTM.

The ceremony was held prior to the start of SEGi's first sponsored training session with RTM on Strategic Marketing and Planning. RTM's Director General, Dato' Haji Abdul Rahman bin Hamid received the VCP partnership plaque from SEGi's Director of Business Development, Puan Ailinton Dato' Isahak.

RTM is a long standing organisation that has seen many changes in the industry since radio was first introduce to this country in 1921. The broadcasting industry has seen many positive changes with advancement of technology and influences of western counterparts.

 

“With the effects of globalisation and entrance of competitors into the market, RTM needs to boost its organisation in order to stay competitive,” said Rahman. To keep up and maintain their position in the forefront of the broadcasting industry, the organisation needs to administer change in innovation and creativity.

“We need to look at a revamping the organisation, not only in terms of a change of new skin, but a complete overhaul of everything,” said Rahman. “There is a lot of hardwork involved and I believe that for this change to happen, managers and senior management need to undergo education and training workshops and seminar to broaden their minds and enhance their skill-sets to upgrade themselves and the organisation.”

Rahman remarked that the strategic collaboration with SEGi to provide education and training services is a positive step toward implementing change.

“Our collaboration with RTM is to create a learning organisation,” said Ailinton. “We find that we have a common mission with our value corporate partner – that is to upgrade and enhance the knowledge and skills of staff and students.”

Under the deal, staff and family members of RTM are able to enjoy substantial rebates when they enrol in various programmes at certificate, diploma or degree levels. They are spoilt for choice with the wide range of disciplines available, from business to IT, engineering to early childhood education, law to creative arts and so on.

What's more the degrees available are offered in partnership with renowned universities from the US , UK , Australia and Canada .

SEGi boasts well-known brand names such as PRIME College , Systematic College , IBMS College , MSC International and Summit International amongst its host of colleges and training centres located in major towns and cities across the country, including Sarawak .

The partnership will also address issues such as ensuring that only sufficiently qualified and trained candidates will be considered for promotion at RTM.

Joint research & development of suitable and accredited programmes to meet these needs will be conducted both by RTM and SEGi. The former looks forward to enjoying the value SEGi brings to the partnership, particularly through its links with top-notch British & Australian universities.

Staff of RTM also stand to benefit from special financial packages, including the innovative education loan packages lined-up by SEGi with Bank Rakyat. This allows employees of RTM to pursue their education ‘interest free' for the duration of their studies.
