Pi Jia Wan, achiever of 5 World Gold medallions in the LCCI Series 2 2005 examination, was awarded a trophy and cheque of RM1500 from the ACCA (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants) today.

Pi is the best in the world for the LCCI Level 3 subjects for Accounting, Cost Accounting, Management Accounting, Business Statistics and Advanced Business Calculation.

A highly elated Pi was all smiles as she received the trophy and cheque at SEGi College Kuala Lumpur (formerly known as Systematic College Kuala Lumpur).

“When I received my LCCI results last year, I was simply blown over by the fact that I achieved 5 world gold medals where I am the top of 5 subjects in the world. Now I get a cheque that amounts to almost the entire exam fees for semester 1 of the ACCA programme and it's simply wonderful,” said Pi cheerily.

This China born lady, 33, attributes her achievement to hard work and the love and support of her Malaysian husband, Hon, a local businessman.

“One does not achieve success alone. Behind my achievement is the encouragement of my husband, my family and the fantastic lecturers who patiently guided me through the programme,” acknowledged Pi.

“SCKL lecturers are very good and my outstanding results reflect the quality of the lecturers of the College.”

Pi who took the LCCI programme at SEGi College Kuala Lumpur (SCKL) is continuing her studies with the ACCA programme, also offered at SCKL.

Studying in Malaysia since March 2004, Pi enjoys the learning environment and country. “Having only experience learning in SCKL, I cannot speak for the other colleges. However, I like the learning environment in SCKL as it is very professional, organised and structured.”

“I took the LCCI programme as it is my interest lies in accountancy and finance. In my opinion, the LCCI is the best stepping stone to the ACCA as it builds a strong foundation in the basics of accountancy and finance which is very important if you want to do well in this line,” said Pi. “I have noticed a lot of ACCA students who have other qualifications that is not LCCI and they struggle to grasp what the lecturers teach.”

Awarding the trophy and cheque to Pi is Jeffery Soong, Country Manager of LCCI Malaysia.

“By virtue of Jia Wan's achievement, the ACCA would like to award her RM1500 for the ACCA examination fees and membership subscription. Her achievement is truly outstanding and remarkable,” said Soong. “We believe in awarding outstanding students for their talent and hard work.”

On future plans, Pi is aiming to do well in the ACCA programme and be an accountant once she graduates. “I do so would like to work in Malaysia as it is my husband's home and I have grown fond of the place, but it seems rather impossible with the stringent regulations on foreign workers. I might have to seek employment in other countries.”

“I have no fears in finding work as the ACCA is accepted and recognised worldwide. I would be able to apply my knowledge anywhere.”
