THE Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM) is an annual event organised by the state government. The Penang Bridge, at 13.5km, is one of the world longest bridge. This year it was held on November 22, 2009.

We are very proud to announce that our fellow SEGian, Ow Yong Jin Kuang from DIBA took part in the men open full marathon category (42km) and ended up as the 7th Malaysian to finish the race. His winning time is 3 hours 4 mins. The international winner’s time is 2 hours 23mins.

He beat about 300 people who took part in that category to become the 21st  overall international placing. There were about 700 participants from the full marathon categories (men, women, veteran).

He trained 5 days a week on an average of 1.5 hours per day. Last year he was the 1st Malaysian to finish and was 12th placing overall. “Last year there were only half of this year’s number of participants. My time last year was 3 hours 12 mins, an improvement this year. My target is to complete within 2 hours 40 mins next year”, he said. We do wish him all the best.

We also like to congratulate our very own SEGi lecturer,Miss Ozeki Yasuko who took part in the women open full marathon (42km) and finished her race in 4 hours 38 mins. Well done!

Kudos also to all SEGians who also took in the half marathon and fun run!
