It’s a nationwide Open Day this 15th and 16th December from 10am to 5pm at all SEGi College campuses located in Kota Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya, Penang and Kuching, Sarawak.

“We welcome everyone to come visit our colleges during our Open Day. Our counsellors, lecturers and deans will be able to help you decide what programme to take up and walk you through a campus tour to get a feel of the campus,” said Lee Kok Cheng, chief operating officer of SEG International Bhd and principal of SEGi College Malaysia.

“What more, you’ll be able to get a chance to win in-season passes to watch the latest blockbuster movie The Golden Compass,” added Lee.

According to Lee, the Open Day is a chance for SPM school leavers to find out more about what sort of degree programmes are available at the campuses, to know if the programme suits their personality and to check out the learning and recreational facilities.

“What school leavers should do is choose a programme that fits what they want, and their personality. They should not allow outside pressure to influence their decision as this would be their future they’ll carry for the rest of their life,” advised Lee.

Explaining on what he meant by finding a good fit, Lee explained that personality counts a lot for the career of your choice. For example, if you’re afraid of blood, you should not do a medical or nursing programme; if you are not a people person, you should not go in to mass communication as you would be expected to have an outgoing personality and at ease to talk to a lot of people; or if you are uncomfortable with dealing with young children you should not take up an early childhood education programme.

“Many school leavers are influenced by outside pressure when deciding on what programmes to take on. Outside pressure comes from within their own home, friends or people they look up to. Of course when deciding, we always ask those we trust. However, the decision at the end of the day should be based on the individual’s strong points,” said Lee.

SEGi Group of Colleges offers over 100 3+0 degree programmes and diploma programmes in the disciplines of business and accountancy, engineering and information technology, education and social sciences, creative arts and design, nursing, hotel management and tourism, and American Degree Program (ADP).

“We have a large selection of programme offerings. Our Kota Damansara campus offers a wide variety of disciplines, our Kuala Lumpur campus is a pioneer for business and accounting programmes, and our Subang Jaya campus is known for its niche offerings of early childhood education, creative arts and ADP,” explained Lee.

Listing the many 3+0 degree programmes are the Bachelor of Business majoring in either Human Resource Management, Administrative Management or Marketing in collaboration with the University of Southern Queensland; the BA (Hons) Business Management, BSc (Hons) Applied Business Computing, BEng.
