Another Smashing Musical Performance by SEGi College Subang Jaya

Extraordinary performance by music students conducted by Yii Kah Hoe.

28th March 2008 - Fine tunes and dramatic melodies were heard on the night of the 6th Wave Concert, an annual musical extravaganza organised by the Music Department of the Faculty Creative Arts & Design (FOCAD) of SEGi College Subang Jaya.

250 students, guests and staff crowded the theatre hall that spilled over into the foyer, a must attend event for music lovers.

“Our music students did excellently well for this year’s event, and I must praise their efforts and the staff involved for a good show!” said the much enthused Dr. Lisa Tan, Principal of SEGi College Subang Jaya.

The concert was fully organised by the students with guidance from lecturers of the Music Department. The effort and

attention to detail that the students put in organising the show was evident with the audience overwhelming praise and applaud for the students’ outstanding performance.

The audience was entertained by a variety of performances, ranging from vocal solo, choir, string ensemble, instrument ensemble and even a live band. A crowd favorite was certainly an Irish folk number that was arranged by student, Frederick Chaw. The tune titled King of the Fairies was a beautiful blend of Western music with a touch of contemporary Malaysian flavor.

Another mesmerizing performance was an instrument ensemble of past and current students who performed two brilliant pieces of theme suites arranged and conducted by music lecturer, Mr.Yii Kah Hoe. The compilation of famous themes songs from renowned Japanese anime composer Joe Hisaishi and famous Hong Kong TV series had the audience humming to the familiar tunes.

The 6th Wave Concert was certainly a testimony that the students of SEGi College Subang Jaya’s Music Department are not merely talented musicians but are also professionals with great potentials.
