Lion Dance Roars Success for SEGi
International students from China felt very much at home watching the antics of the lion dances, and the other students from Pakistan and Indonesia were enthusiastic of the performance. “Our international students simply enjoy being part of the many traditions and cultures we have here in Malaysia, and the lion dance is truly as spectacular way to show them the Chinese tradition,” said Tan. For Lin Tai, a student pursuing a programme in Music, from Shanghai, it was a reminder of the celebration of the Lunar New Year celebrations at her home country. “I did not go back to Shanghai this year but would be celebrating it here with my friends. For me, it’s as good a celebration here in Malaysia. It’s like home away from home!” Lin exclaimed. When approached, Tan Ai Gee, a marketing staff of SEGi College didn’t want to miss the opportunity to see the lion dance performance. When my friends and I saw the notice at the college about the Lunar celebrations, we simply had to come. For every festive season, the College is colourfully decorated for Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Deepavali to set the atmosphere and mood for the season’s celebration. After the lion dance, students and staff were treated with mandarin oranges and festive goodies.
