SEGi College Open Day Welcomes Public

SEGi makes dreams come true. Hundreds of students graduate each year from SEGi's partner universities.

16th January 2007 SEGi College will be having its Open Day on 27th to 28th January 2007, from 10AM to 5PM. School leavers and those interested in private tertiary education are encouraged to visit the College during the Open Day to find out more about the programmes offered. “We have programmes to suit students from all walks of life – degree, professional courses, diploma, foundation courses and vocational training,” said Lee Kok Cheng, Chief Operating Officer of SEGi International Bhd. The University of Bolton is one of the Universities that offer distance learning that is a good choice for those who have other commitment such as work. The University of Bolton offers this flexibility to those who wants to pursue their degree and continue to work at the same time. Students get to have their classes in the evening, which means they can come for their classes after work. Full-time classes are also available.

The University is UK 's newest university and have received accolades from the Guardian Newspaper and have topped the table of percentage increases of applications to all UK universities last year.

Other than The University of Bolton, SEGi College also has twinning arrangements with the University of Abertay Dundee, UK to offer the BA (Hons) Business Administration, BA (Hons) Accountancy & Finance and BA (Hons) Marketing.

“Year 1 of the UAD twinning programmes would have 8 similar core modules of Introductory to Financial Accounting, Introduction to Economics, Introduction to Microeconomics, Marketing in Context, IT for Business, Contemporary Business, Bahasa Malaysia and Moral or Islamic Studies,” explained Lee.

“Other than UK business programmes, SEGi also offers business degree programmes from the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Australia . Students can study for the Bachelor of Business majoring either in Administrative Management, Human Resource Management or Marketing,” said Lee.

SEGi College of Graduate Studies through its Faculty of American Studies also offers 4+0 American Degree Programme (ADP) which features 6 areas of specialisations in the popular subject areas such as Management, Psychology, Communication, Financial Management, Management Information Systems, and Marketing.

According to Lee, the chance for students to study the degree programme without having going overseas translates into huge cost savings. Students need not worry about the quality of education received as it is controlled by the University and College. SEGi's centralised exams department is ISO9001:2000 certified ensuring students of high academic standards.

SEGi diploma programmes are in business administration, management, accounting, marketing, human resource management, information technology, computer studies, computer systems (operations management), civil engineering, chemical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, advertising design, mass communication, graphic design, interior design, industrial design, video and animation, photography, performing art (theatre), creative multimedia, music, early childhood education, Montessori pedagogy, nursing, and hotel management.

“The Diploma articulates into the Bachelor Degree programme of our partner universities,” said Lee.

The SEGi College Malaysia flagship campus is located on a 10-acre site in Kota Damansara is scheduled to be up and running by mid-2007. It is in its final stages of completion. The RM100million worth campus has a capacity of 12,000 students, will be expecting to provide industry driven diploma and degree programmes to our Malaysian students.

“ SEGi College Malaysia is located within city proximity but not within the hustle and bustle of city living. It is set to be a landmark for private education in the country,” said Lee Kok Cheng, Chief Operating Officer of SEGi College.

SEGi College has for years been awarding deserving Malaysians with the opportunity to further their education. The Colleges have set up a High Achiever Scholarship (HAS) fund for top scorers for selected programmes of SEGi, as well as for the underprivileged students who work hard in their studies.

Students who achieve straight ‘A's in 10 subjects and above will be eligible to receive full scholarship for the entire duration of their studies at SEGi. Partial scholarships will also be granted to those who score 8 and 9 ‘A's in their SPM exams. The College also announced rebate of RM500 for each ‘A' one score in the SPM.
