SEGi University College’s lobby was transformed into a Hollywood red-carpet to make way for the inaugural graduation A.R.T (Absolute, Redefined, Talent) Premier Showcase 2009 organised by the School of Creative Design (SoCD).

The A.R.T Premier Showcase 2009 displayed award winning and exceptional creative design works produced by the SoCD students. The showcase, themed ‘Movie Premiere’, allowed its guest to have the red-carpet experience with posters of Hollywood blockbuster movies like Transformers, Titanic, Twilight and Spiderman that further accentuated the glam of the red-carpet event.

The event, held from 4-6 December at SEGi’s flagship campus in Kota Damansara, highlighted the creative artwork of the first graduating cohort of Diploma students from the School of Creative Design since its inception in July 2007.

Emeritus Professor Dr. Muhammad Awang, Vice Chancelor SEGi University College was present at the A.R.T Premier Showcase to show his support and appreciation to the graduating students.

In his opening address to the students, Emeritus Professor Dr. Muhammad Awang enthused that this was merely the beginning for the graduating students and they should always strive to achieve their dreams and goals; emphasising on the importance of creativity in every aspect of life.

It was certainly a gratifying moment for Ms. Fiona Wong, Head of School of Creative Design at SEGi University College; “when we first began our journey in July 2007, these graduates were only learning the fundamental understanding of art and design; today they have organised a graduating showcase to display their creativity and exceptional artwork. This is definitely a huge milestone for the School of Creative Design”.

SoCD was set up to be the premier centre for media, art and design education in Malaysia. Today, the School continues to expand the boundaries of teaching and learning by using the latest technologies and methods including lectures, seminars, workshops and presentations as well as practical experience in laboratories and on the job. SoCD also prides itself on drawing first-rate academics, many of whom are captains of their respective industries with practical expertise and know-how, to serve as academic advisors, lecturers, examiners and moderators.

These benefits ensure students posses an awareness of the skills which are in high demand in the industry, this in turn allows graduates to develop career-oriented skills to assist in preparing them to face the challenges of the working world.

SEGi offers diploma programmes in advertising design, creative multimedia, graphic design, interior design, mass communication, music, photography and video & animation; as well as the Bachelor of Mass Communication (Hons) awarded by SEGi University College.
