25th May 2007 SEGi College Sarawak’s A-Level students recently celebrated their good results by holding a luncheon to give awards and recognition to their peers as well as to show appreciation to their lecturers.

This year’s A-Level results saw a marked increase in student passes in Business Studies and Economics, doubling the number of last year’s passes for the same subjects.

The increase in the number of passes was attributed to the help given by dedicated lecturers Fiona Lo and Heng Kiat Sing, and their encouragement to students to work harder, said Eddyson Sim, Organising Chairman for the A-Level Party.

“We truly appreciate the help given to us by Mdm Fiona and Mdm Heng. They really came through for the students,” he said.

“We also recognise the efforts put in by the students to pass or better their results in their respective examinations.”

Among the students who received recognition were Mohd Abdullah bin Junaidi, Tan Boon Kit, Alexander Ng Chyae Chin, Benson Kho Ming Shen, Chew Yii Ching, Chieng Lee Sing, Theresa Chin Nyen Chin, Gurpreet Kaur Sidhu and Chong Jia Ling.

Also present were Jeslyn Tan Kai Nee, Dayen Kinchang Ak Anyau, Christine Chan Ee Yin, Vanessa Binti Fahmi Collin, Jackson Ngu Yung Tat, Richard Ling Mao Chen, Irene Ho, Ronald Felix Hardin and Brendan Chin Yin Hon.

Earlier, SEGi College Sarawak Principal Stella Lau congratulated the students for their excellent results and thanked the lecturers for their efforts as well as the additional hours they have invested towards the success of their students.

“I hope the success of these students will encourage others to do better and excel in their other A-Level subjects.”

After receiving their gifts of appreciation, Lo and Heng also made short speeches to urge their students to strive for greater success.

Later, the students also played a couple of games which saw management of the College participating in a game of ‘Twister’ with the students. Not surprisingly, the students won.

The A-Level Party, which was organised by A-level students, allowed the students to learn from a real life perspective on organising a buffet luncheon as well as finding gifts and awards under an allocated budget.
