BEng (Hons) IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Mechanical Engineering is the mostly broadly based of the engineering professions. Mechanical Engineers are involve at some stage in the conception, design, production, finance and marketing if all manufactured goods from the largest power station, space crafts and car plant to the most delicate mechanism required for scientific instruments, heart valves and micro-surgery. The course offered by the department reflect this wide range of activities. The department has Excellent ratings for teaching and a top research ratinh of 5A.

This is the most flexible of our courses and covers the essential subjects required for the mechanical engineer, with the emphasis on modelling and design. You will also be introduced to the role of engineering in business and management. There are increasing opportunities to diversity or specialise your studies in the latter years of your degree through a wide range of optional modules and major individual project.

A mechanical engineering student will work on real engineering projects, aided by our close relationship with national and international industry.
